I am a member of Antrim Historical Society and I am reserching the Antrim area during the First World War.

I notice from the book by Margaret Bell on St John's history that Rev.C.F. Newell served as a Chaplain to the Forces from 1916-18 and that he was wounded three times.

He also corresponded with General Sir William Adair and sent letters home each Easter. One of these is printed in the book.

I would be grateful if you could provide any additional information on Rev Newell's time at the front and, if possible, I could see the other letters he sent home.

Indeed, I would be grateful for any information relating to the church at Donegore and the war, especially photographs and any written material relating to the war.

Also, does the church have a memorial to those who fell in the war? If so, would it be possible to either let me see it or email the names and details on it.

I hope to write a book on Antrim and the Great War and any assistance will be gratefully accepted.
